Um...

Forget about Super Bowl. Lets make the playoffs first. What a terrible news day at Valley Ranch. The only silver lining is that if the team can make it out of 2-1 or a shocking 3-0 it would be a rallying point for the rest of the season. The team could use a little adversity to wake them up and start holding themselves accountable. This much adversity (Tony Romo, Felix Jones, Mat McBriar, Flozelle Adams, Terrence Newman, Anthony Spencer, Adam Jones, Kyle Kosier, Roy Williams, Pat Watkins, Sam Hurd... did I miss anyone?) might be a little more than they bargained for though.

I'm officially worried

I'd be surprised if Bruce Reed isn't fired tomorrow. We've had pretty poor special teams all year and today was just abysmal. There's no focus with this team right now. I don't really know what it is. It seems so cliche to say that its because Wade Phillips is soft but he needs to admit that there is an issue instead of "Plenty of teams in this league would love to be 4-2" or "Give credit to the guys for fighting back today". There's a higher standard with this team. Talent is abound on this team but that doesn't buy that oh so important intangible of chemistry and tenacity. The Cowboys were having fun last year (until December) and it starts with Tony Romo. Then again, they were also winning so which one comes first? In this case I think the Cowboys are feeling the pressure of being the most talented team in the NFL.

Getting back to Romo, wheres that happy go lucky guy out on the field? I understand with Romo you have to take the good with the bad since he tends to improv a lot. However, its been a lot more bad than good lately. I've been thinking about how he came into this season talking about hes really looked at tape of Tom Brady to understand how to be really settled and calm in the pocket, particularly with his feet. Maybe Romo needs to not worry about that so much and play his style. I always thought Romo was so good at feeling the rush and making the slight movements in the pocket to buy himself that extra split second of time or bail out of the pocket and make a play. The past couple games it seems like he has no feel for the rush. That "it" or swagger hasn't been a part of Romo's game this year. Same goes for the rest of the team.

The elimination of Terrell Owens the past couple weeks is baffling. I can't tell you whats happening downfield. I understand hes probably being doubled but so are most good receivers. Something I haven't seen at all which was a popular move last year is putting Owens in motion.

My wish list: discipline, swagger, urgency. This is the beginning of a tailspin so we have to nip that in the bud. No more denial.

Seriously?

I'm struggling to comprehend this brave new world we're in where the Redskins are actually good. Looks like they're for real.

I'm worried about the Cowboys defense today. I don't think this will be a blowout by the Cowboys.
