because Greg Ellis is whining again. Right on cue. Dude, you get older and your skills start to diminish so the team needs to make sure they're ready for it. It happens. Hes battling Roy Williams for the title of most insecure athlete.
And here's a story about a beast who quietly gets the job done. And by gets the job done I mean raping, pillaging, and feasting on major league pitchers. Hamilton told the SI cover jinx to stick it with a grand slam off former Horn JP Howell. For anyone that saw it, that was the definition of a line shot, a frozen rope, etc. His natural abilities are just disgusting. Hes 1 year and a few months into being a major leaguer and hes dominating like hes been around for 4 years. Its a shame that he found cocaine to be so delicious for about 3 years. Tampa Bay would have quite an OF right now. But he got over it, came back, and never missed a beat. Hes only going to get better.

It never gets old
Talking about how Roy Williams sucks never gets old, partly because he thinks so highly of himself. To summarize this article by Matt Moseley: Roy Williams is a baby, who donates a lot of money to charity, but is too dumb to learn NFL defensive schemes, and is starting to annoy his teammates. That might be a run-on sentence but I never really like AP English anyways.

T New is here to stay
So much for any speculation that all the new young corners meant TNew wouldn't be here long term. Hes been extended for 6 years, 50.2 mil. It'll be interesting to see how the numbers shake out in the latter years of the contract when he'll be pushing 35 and well past a corner's prime. Roy Williams and Anthony Henry shouldn't plan on buying any new property in Dallas in the next year or so.

Greg Ellis opens his mouth again...
... but maybe for the good this time. Dunno why he would say this publicly but he basically confirmed what everyone already knew. Roy Williams doesn't think he fits in this defense. I would add onto that the extra caveat that safeties who can't cover don't fit many defenses. Wouldn't want Roy to sell himself short. Of course Roy will just show you his Pro Bowl patches. Biscuit has always come off as a standoffish guy and there have been a lot of stories recently about how he doesn't even interact with his teammates much. Ellis confirmed that too. If Roy isn't released this July, which I would be surprised if he is released, he will be released next July after another inevitably poor season in which he will see his role diminished even more.
Fun Rangers fight tonight.

Raw Power
Hamilton is quietly contending for the Triple Crown and he can hit a baseball pretty hard.

On Avery
People can debate all they want about whether or not Avery is a good coach. I happen to lean towards the side that believes he lacks offensive creativity, makes terrible in-game adjustments, doesn't adapt his system well to the players he has, is too much of a control freak, never trusts his players (particularly young ones, Devin Harris anyone?), and is too concerned with passing blame elsewhere in order to absolve himself of any wrongdoing. If you don't believe me check out these insider stories from a guy who has insider access. Bottom line here though, and this is not debatable, is that the team was no longer responding to him and had tuned him out. Avery simply could not coach this team next year. Avery acknowledged that himself today, amidst indirectly patting himself on the back with quotes about how its a miracle this team made the playoffs. Avery's coaching style wears on players, especially if you're not winning or you've suffered the type of playoff horrors this team has. Avery and Larry Brown should exchange notes on what it feels like to get tuned out because players get tired of you. Then Larry could proceed to strategize and coach circles around the Little General as most good coaches in the NBA have the past couple years.
